PS3 jumps gun on Armored

January 6, 2010

Sony pirated its own movie over the holidays. Armored, which rolled out at the theaters on Dec. 4, was accidentally uploaded to the PlayStation Network for a few hours, according to Video Business sister publication Variety.

The crime action movie starring Matt Dillon, Jean Reno and Laurence Fishburne grossed $15.8 million at the box office and hasn't yet been scheduled for DVD release.

Variety reported that it was unclear how many times the movie was downloaded from the Network, which has 33 million registered users, before it was removed, but that Armored was shortly after available on pirate sites.

Accidentally ??? Sony PS3 network has been pushing for day and date theatrical/downloads since its re-introduction.

Expect to see more "accidents" like this as Sony pushes digital delivery...
