YouTube's missing comments
December 12, 2006

Fox, Viacom, CBS and NBC Universal are in talks to create a YouTube rival to put their copyrighted clips and programs online, according to a report this past weekend in the Wall Street Journal.

Of course, CBS and NBC already have deals with YouTube to put their clips on the site. In fact, as part of its deal with CBS, YouTube has moved the comments (users can post these below clips) to a separate page and allowed CBS to delete ones they don't like, or in CBS parlance those that are profane or offer "unconstructive criticism." Guess power to the people and all the talk about the users being in control is so yesterday...

Here's a CBS clip from YouTube of Matt Damon doing a pretty good Matthew McConaughey impression, that's one of the most-viewed today.

Speaking of comments not getting posted, this blog frequently dumps comments it doesn't like.
