> Colossal package of hits and misses from Cartoon Network’s edgier side.
Adult Swim’s first DVD boxed set is a compilation of complete seasons of its humorously anarchic (and popular) animated shows targeted at young adults. Included here are Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Vol. 2, Space Ghost Coast to Coast: Vol. 3, Moral Orel: Season 1, Robot Chicken: Season 2, Metalocalypse: Season 1 and Sealab 2021: Season 2. More intriguingly, the set contains a bonus disc of five never-before-released pilots for a quintet of other shows: The Best of Totally for Teens, Cheyenne Cinnamon, Perfect Hair Forever, Welcome to Eltingville and Korgoth of Barbaria, which was produced by one of the creative minds behind SpongeBob SquarePants. This collection is bursting at the seams, and it’s probably the best single-package representation of a TV network’s “vision” that we’ve ever seen.
Shelf Talk: Well-priced, strikingly packaged in a black box and boasting more than 20 hours of material, Adult Swim in a Box is well-suited for holiday gift-giving. Fans of Adult Swim, the Cartoon Network’s increasingly popular block of young adult programming, are known to be a dedicated bunch, and they’ll be eager to see the collection of pilots.
