Comcast to offer Twilight VOD with exclusive content

Format launch will be day-and-date with DVD bow

By Susanne Ault -- Video Business, 3/16/2009

MARCH 16 | Comcast is packing its March 21 video-on-demand bow of Twilight with exclusive content, including three featurettes about the teen vampire blockbuster.

The bonus content will become available on March 18—a few days before Summit Home Entertainment launches the title on VOD, day-and-date with its DVD bow.

Included featurette “Vampire Baseball” looks at the challenges in putting together the special effects for this signature scene in the movie. Other extras provide more behind-the-scenes info about the movie, as well as an in-depth look at its stars.

Comcast will launch Twilight in standard-definition and high-definition starting at 12:01 on March 21.

"Attention Twilighters: At 12:01 a.m., you can watch Twilight in HD the moment it's available and with no trip to the video store," said Derek Harrar, senior VP/general manager of video services for Comcast. "Delivering this international pop culture phenomenon right into customers' living rooms demonstrates the power of Comcast On Demand.
